Story "Hysteria"
Hysteria is a British Columbia movie directed by Tanya Wexler. It is a inspired romantic comedy
set in the late 19th century. This story tells about the discovery of electromechanical vibrator
used to treat the Hysteria. In Victorian London there is a Dr. Mortimer Granville (Hugh dancy
) in this movie who is a young doctor struggles to establish himself as a successful doctor.
Then the Dr. Mortimer Granville is hired by the Dr. Robert Dalrymple (Jonathan Pryce) who
is renowned for treating the women’s disease hysteria. He treats the hysteria using 'Pelvic
Massage’.
Hysteria is defined as a neurotic condition to women. And this hysteria is caused by dysfunction
of the uterus in women. In 19th century, Hysteria came to be defined as a most generalized
sexual dysfunction. So Dr. Granville treating this hysteria by using the differ method of pelvic
massage and also doing various experiments on this problem. By doing the various experiments
on Hysteria Dr. Granville becomes the expert of this problem. Then Dr. Granville discover the
electromechanical vibrator. This vibrator is used to medical diagnose the problem of Hysteria in
women.
